For my global sustainability project, I designed Shower Sense – a device you can place in your shower that times you for 5 minutes and also calculates the amount of water you used. The purpose of the device is to help reduce the amount of time spent in the shower, thus helping to preserve water. As part of this project, I also created a prototype of the device using an Arduino and a water sensor module. I coded the device so that the device sensor could be placed in water, beep after a specified amount of time, and calculate the number of gallons of water used. There was a competition for all of the projects and Shower Sense won the water category.
